Hello Marketers

Sometimes writing copy for your business can be hard and Today I wanted to share five copywriting tips that can help you write copy for your business online.

“I have always believed that writing advertisements are the second most profitable form of writing. The first, of course, is ransom notes.”

– Phil Dusenberry

Did you know Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Salmon Rushdie and Dorothy L. Sayers began their careers as copywriters.

They’d learned while doing and they knew to delete unneeded words and how to use words to trigger emotion.

“In the advertising business, a good idea can inspire a great commercial. But a good insight can fuel a thousand thoughts, a thousand commercials.”

–
Phil Dusenberry

Eight tips, tools and hacks from the professionals. We know that they will help bring a higher level to your blog’s content.

1. Remove the word “that”.

Avoid using ‘THAT’. It clutters your copy without adding value.

You should try to delete “That” from most sentences without changing the meaning too much. Sometimes you have to change the verb-tense, but it will make the sentence better.

Removing ‘that’ at every opportunity forces you to change the way you write.

2. Speed up your writing by doing it in Bulk.

This next hack avoids writer’s block because of one simple rule:

Use a timer to focus on writing for 15-minute increments.

During that block of time, When the timer goes off, you stop whatever your doing and takes a five-minute break.

Focusing on tasks in bulk chunks of time propels you toward reaching your goals.

  1. Get a timer.

  2. Set it for 15 minutes.

  3. Write Like Crazy.

  4. When the timer goes off, STOP.

    3. Delete your first paragraph.

Most writers tend to warm up in their first paragraph.

While a slow warm-up might grease the wheels from the writer’s standpoint, lack of inertia can make it less interesting. Then draw the reader into the narrative through the momentum.

    4. Make your customer the protagonist.

Try and make your reader the star of the story.

Everyone is the hero in their own story, and Your customer is no different.

Don’t write about “the product will x” instead write.

    — “You will x with the product”.

    5. Every article has one message.

    Every article has one message.

    The One-Message Rule:

Most writers don’t follow the one message principle, which is why their posts may have low engagement.

Every article you write should have a clear message and at least one takeaway for the reader that helps them take action.
